Kajabi is one of the most popular all-in-one platforms for course creators, coaches, and entrepreneurs—but is it really the best fit for your business? A while back, I dove headfirst into Kajabi, expecting it to solve all my problems.
Spoiler: It didn’t. But it did some things really well.
In this post, I’ll break down 10 things I wish I knew before buying Kajabi, sharing the pros, cons, and insider tips to help you decide if it’s right for you.
- It’s Expensive—but It Might Be Worth It
Let’s start with the elephant in the room: the price. Kajabi starts at $55/month for the Kickstarter Plan, and it only goes up from there. At first, I felt sticker shock, but when you factor in the tools it replaces—email marketing, website hosting, course platforms, and more—it can actually save you money. That said, if you’re just starting out, the cost might feel hard to justify.
Pro Tip: Start with the free trial (get 30 days on me with the link) to see if it’s a good fit before committing.
- The Course Builder Is Good, but Not Perfect
Kajabi’s course builder is super intuitive and easy to use. You can drag and drop modules, upload videos, and structure your content effortlessly. But if you’re coming from platforms like Teachable or Thinkific, you might find it lacks advanced features like detailed completion tracking.
Update: Kajabi has improved its analytics, but some other platforms still do course tracking better.
- The Community Feature Needs Work
Kajabi’s built-in community feature is great. Its not as good as dedicated community platform but I do find it solid and great design. It is way better than Facebook group.
What I Wish I Knew: a community is a must (I bought another tool thinking I won’t need community… what a waste of time and money).
- Email Marketing Is Solid but Not Advanced
Kajabi’s email marketing tools are solid for basic automations and newsletters. It’s great to have everything under one roof, but don’t expect it to compete with platforms like ActiveCampaign or ConvertKit when it comes to segmentation and advanced workflows.
Pro Tip: If you’re planning complex email sequences, you might need a dedicated email platform. For most Kajabi will be more than enough.
- Landing Pages Are a Game-Changer
Kajabi’s landing page builder is one of its standout features. It’s beginner-friendly, highly customizable, and comes with beautiful templates. You don’t need to be a designer to create professional-looking sales pages, which was a huge win for me.
Update: Kajabi has added even more templates, making it easier to create high-converting pages.
- Customer Support Is Hit or Miss
I’ve had mixed experiences with Kajabi’s customer support. Sometimes, they’re incredibly helpful; other times, it feels like you’re stuck waiting forever. They do have a ton of documentation and tutorials, which can be a lifesaver.
What I Wish I Knew: Don’t rely solely on support—be prepared to figure some things out on your own. But that is true about any and all platforms. Somethigns things go your way, sometimes they don’t.
- You Might Still Need Additional Tools
Kajabi positions itself as an all-in-one solution, but depending on your business, you might still need extras like a CRM, additional webinar software, or advanced analytics tools. For example, Kajabi doesn’t offer advanced tagging for leads, which can be limiting if you’re scaling.
Pro Tip: Budget for at least one or two additional tools to supplement Kajabi.
- It’s Great for Beginners but Can Limit Advanced Users
If you’re just starting out, Kajabi feels like magic. Everything is easy to set up, and you don’t need to be tech-savvy. However, as your business grows, you might hit some roadblocks, especially if you need more advanced features or integrations.
What I Wish I Knew: Kajabi is perfect for solopreneurs or small teams. If you’re running a complex business, you might outgrow it.
- The Affiliate Program Is Basic
Kajabi offers an affiliate program, which is great if you want others to promote your courses or products. However, it’s pretty limited compared to dedicated affiliate platforms. You can’t customize commission structures much, and tracking can be clunky.
What I Wish I Knew: If affiliates are a big part of your strategy, consider pairing Kajabi with a dedicated affiliate tool.
- It’s a Long-Term Investment in Simplicity
Ultimately, Kajabi shines when it comes to simplifying your business. Managing courses, email marketing, sales funnels, and landing pages all in one place is incredibly convenient. If you’re tired of duct-taping multiple platforms together, Kajabi can save you time and headaches.
What I Wish I Knew: The value Kajabi offers goes beyond features—it’s about creating a seamless workflow and business that just works!
Is Kajabi Right for You?
Kajabi isn’t perfect, but it’s a fantastic option for many online entrepreneurs. If you’re a course creator, coach, or digital product seller looking for simplicity and a professional look, it might be worth the investment. However, if you need advanced features or are on a tight budget, you might want to explore other options like Systeme.io or Go High Level.
